In this video, I will show you how to use a saved template in the widget area with Elementor’s free version. This is useful when you would prefer to build your widgets for the top bar, sidebar, or any widget areas really.
- First, we need to install a free plugin called Anywhere Elementor
- Let’s go into our WordPress admin area, hover over Plugins and click on add new
- Now search for Anywhere Elementor and install it. When activated it will create a new menu item called AE templates
- Hover over this new menu item and click on the Add new option. Give a title to our new template
If you are using GeneratePress as your theme, disable everything in the sidebar meta option and set the page up with no sidebars and full width. We can hit publish at this point without any issues
- Click on Edit with Elementor, and create the sidebar widget to your liking. Now we have a saved Elementor template with a shortcode available
As you can see we have a shortcode meta box at the top right, that we can use based on our requirements. Shortcode for the widget areas, or the page builder and the PHP code for the advanced users
- Select the shortcode and copy it
- As our next step hover over appearances and click on the widget option
- Add a text widget to any location you would like this to show up and paste the shortcode in the content area…
Hit save and you are done 🙂
