Hiseeu C90 – Cheap, battery-powered, solar-powered Wifi security camera
You asked, you suggested, and some even said that you could get such a security camera for pennies. Looking around, among the options, the Hiseeu C90 wireless HD camera set proved to be a great option.
Let’s see what the $35 kit can do, which includes a battery-powered HD security camera and a small solar panel that can be connected to it for a real-life experience.
If you think it’s worth it, I’ll try to post the current link and discount code I received from the Banggood team here at the end of the article to make the offer even better.
As a manufacturer of security cameras and systems, Hiseeu is quite well-known, especially in the budget category, for their solo solutions. This is not without reason a problem, but it should be taken into account that in order to keep costs low, you have to give up a few small things. This could be the software with which we want to control the cameras, but everything will be revealed during the test.

What’s in the box?
In terms of the box, we get a fairly minimalist solution, but as an OEM manufacturer, this is natural when working with other customers.

In the box we find the C90 security camera, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, two wall brackets and a set of screws for use with them, and a 1.6W solar panel.

What will this be enough for? In fact, in most cases it can charge or keep your camera charged, but don’t use it in a place where there is regular movement or you can’t keep up with it.
Let’s install our camera.
The first step is to download the EseeCloud app to your phone. This is where I’ll say it upfront, the camera set is nice in terms of price/value, but the phone app left me tearing my hair out…

In the meantime, flip up the rubber protector on the bottom of the camera and turn it on with the button located here. Of course, you can insert a micro SD card before or you can do this afterwards.

In the app, you can also search for your camera by clicking on the plus icon in the top right, which it found pretty quickly in my case. Follow the installation instructions and you’re done in a few steps.
Or at least that’s what you might think, but first we get the option to subscribe to a cloud. Tip: there’s a Skip button in the top right corner, then click the “Don’t Experience” button and move on, feeling a little ashamed for not taking advantage of this experience.

The physical installation can begin.
In my case, I looked for a garden position and attached the brackets with the screws and bracket I received.
Once you’ve found the best place for your device, you can start setting up every little detail.

- Storage, events, share, and playback buttons

Click on live view and additional options will appear.

- Under Display and Sound, you can set whether to use IR or a spotlight as an assistant at night and the sensitivity for this, and here you can specify, for example, the parts that should not be recorded, which we say would not be good to record, e.g. streets, etc.
- Storage settings
- Also the indicator LED, time zone, etc. are in an Advanced submenu

Quality
As a first example, let’s look at it from a distance of 3 meters and then at 7-8 meters. As you can see, the resolution only stands on paper and is more of a plain HD resolution enhanced in software.

It’s definitely a great product in this price range, it can detect people from 3-5 meters away, but it won’t be our main security device. Its nighttime performance is the same, so there are no surprises.

Looking back
At this point, the experience is so-so. There are a lot of ads, but the functionality works well and is easy to use. We get a 5-second segment for event review, and then the full video can be viewed in the Playback menu.
In the playback menu, you only have to click on one advertisement to transfer it to the SD card repeatedly if you are not a Cloud storage subscriber, but that’s not a problem.

Conclusion
I think this camera is a really good option for this price. It has good battery life, comes with a solar panel, and the wifi signal was perfectly handled through 2 thick walls and at about 30 meters, even though it was still weak, and the data transfer was fast. Of course, this is understandable because of the quality, but the reaction to all options and reviews was just as fast in my case.
Coupled with this, the fact that there is the option to start 24/7 recording in the app is a pretty good option if you support it with adequate storage space with a quality card or cloud subscription.
